Aircraft maintenance.

Apply

We're looking for an exceptional A&P to look after our growing fleet and own the records that go with it.

Two airplanes to start: a Cessna 170B (O-300, just out of overhaul and through break-in) and a 172 being purchased now. Five is the plan. All work happens at Hawthorne; we don't ferry airplanes off-field for routine maintenance.

The work

100-hours and annuals, squawks, line maintenance, and pre-buys as the fleet grows. Logbooks, ADs and 337s kept so an underwriter or an inspector pulling the records finds nothing to explain. The airworthiness call belongs to the mechanic, and it stands.

Terms

One guaranteed day a week to start, your choice of day, paid whether or not anything's broken. Bring your own tools, set your own rate, invoice as your own business, and keep your other customers.

One condition: when an airplane here is down, Beach Cities is first in line. That isn't negotiable.

More days as more airplanes arrive, and a full-time position if the work gets there.

What we offer

Referrals to owners on the field who need a good mechanic. Our hangar as your fixed base if you're working toward an IA. Owner-assisted inspections with students if that interests you, and none if it doesn't. Help with the business side if you haven't run one before.

Requirements

  • A&P, current. IA preferred.
  • Piston singles; real time under classic Cessnas preferred.
  • At Hawthorne, or willing to be.
  • Records discipline.
  • Own liability coverage before working on our aircraft.
